I know the power of this word, I love to hear the impact these conversations have. Okay, let's get into it
seems to be a growing obsession with data. And everything has to be measured by data. You look at sports, for example, everything is just been over, analyzed this stats for everything. And some of those you start to absolutely useful, certainly makes for a more interesting TV coverage. But if that's the only measure of whatever you're doing, whether it's sport or something else, then you're missing out on some really key markets. Everything about your own life. How are you measuring success is success how much money you've got in the bank? How much money you earn every year? How fast you can run? how low your golf score is?
Unknown Speaker 2:02
How

impressive your children's school Moxa? At the thing, how are you measuring your success? Can if we draw it back to sport. Here lots of the experts talk about games aren't one on a stats page. There's so many intangibles that come into a winning a game that you can't measure, with stats with numbers with data. When when I run, it's very much running from a holistic perspective. And what I mean by that is, yes, time comes into it. But it's not the main marker. It's how I feel. It's what's going on around me. But I can hear the feedback I get from my body. And the positive impact it has on the rest of my life. Now what if you could do other stuff in your life the same way? If you're in business, are you only measuring your success by money?
Unknown Speaker 3:35
Because if you are,
Ian Hawkins 3:37
you will always be a slave to money. And when people used to ask me how businesses and if it wasn't having good financial month I'd go could be better was now same answer when people ask me it's going well, it's gone so well. And I'm loving it. Does that mean I'm always making consistent sales? No. But again, that's not the only measure. Of course, it's one measure of business. But that's not how business is. And that's why you have to have other things in and around it. So you can see there that you're going to ride the ups and downs. And if you look at the title of this one running for your life, well, it's a holistic Rani. That way of looking at things that's not just data driven. It's not just numbers they've driven but has measures that are far more impactful for your life. So if you're looking at your success, in whatever area of life it is, start thinking about the other measures, how good your relationships, how good you help. How good or not is your ability To stay mentally strong to regulate your emotions How successful are you are dealing with setbacks? How confident are you in going into new situations and scenarios that you brought us to where your confidence levels lie can be hard to measure those by numbers and data. Sometimes there are feel things sometimes they are up and down. And sometimes you just know within yourself that there, there are different things now that you can tackle that you couldn't brings me back to journaling, as most episodes do is that take Intel, right, the amount of time people go like this going on and that going on, I'm like, Yeah, but this is a exponentially more positive conversation. Then we've had previously. I don't always see that right, because sometimes it can feel the same. But it's like it's important to track your increase in all of these different areas. Otherwise, it will feel like you're writing for your life because you'll constantly be in this survival, mode, scrambling, desperately trying to hit your numbers. Instead of managing what's really important. And only you know what that is for you. Only you know, what's most important for you. And if you don't know what's most important, then start there. Get really clear, get clear on your values, get clear on your most important life priorities. Put them in order. And I strongly recommend at the top of that list of priorities you your health, your relationships, physical health, your mental health, your emotional health, spiritual health.
Because the clearer you are on what's most important, the easier it will be for you to measure how you're going, how you're tracking. And then he got to another level, the clearer your plans and dreams and intentions and goals around each of those areas. Then, again, the easier it will be to track becomes your daily GPS system. You've already got your markers there, how you tracking towards that. Great, I've taken the steps and the steps in rather than running for your life. You can run for pleasure, or just live for pleasure.
Make sure you've got important things in order covered and you are measuring yourself in a way that works best for you.
